About Mackinac Island
Mackinac Island is one of the few natural islands in America, where time appears to stand still. There are no cars allowed on the island and the only available transportation is via horse & buggy, on bicycle or by foot.
Only several hundred permanent residents call Mackinac island home. They, along with the summer residents, preserve the island’s pristine Victorian image.
When you visit Mackinac, you’ll find plenty to explore. Between the Mackinac Island State Park, the well preserved Victorian village-like downtown with shops, Fort Mackinac and the infamous Grand Hotel, you may be tempted to get lost in Mackinac island’s historic charm and natural beauty.
Fort Mackinac Weather fact: During our scheduled trip in September, the average island temperatures are in the 60’s.
